Student Project: Design ways to turn emotions into avenues of actions after participants experience the blind simulation at Crossroads.

Outcome: Our students presented a detailed proposal to senior management of Crossroads for adoption into their X-perience programs.

Student Project: Enhance content and relevance of Dialogue in Dark’s (DiD) workshops for primary school students.

Outcome: The team’s workshop idea was incorporated into DiD workshops conducted in over 20 local schools in Hong Kong.  Team member May Lee also received an internship at DiD the following summer.

Student Project: Design a real life solution to help the hearing impaired improve their quality of life.

Outcome: The students designed a phone application called Deafinite to help the hearing impaired interact with hearing people that do not understand sign language. It has features like text to speech, speech to text, doorbell, fire alarms, vibrating alarm clock, and sign dictionary.

Student Project: Increase utilization and revenue from wheel-chair equipped cabs at night and Sunday mornings

Outcome: One of the team’s ideas – marketing to churches – was adopted by Diamond Cab. Two team members continue to work with Diamond Cab as their ongoing school project.

Student Project: Conceptualize online portal to connect youth to poverty-reduction efforts in Hong Kong

Outcome: Grameen has offered the team seed money to develop their portal. They continue to meet and discuss the next steps in executing the work plan.

Student Project: Design a detailed, creative strategy to bring the TFT HK Global Food Imbalance Simulation (experienced and modified by the students), balanced TFT cafeteria meals, and/or Health Addiction vending machines to schools. 

Outcome: Our students adapted and improved on the food imbalance simulation game and devised creative ways to introduce into school education curriculum.

Student Project: Promote upcycling while using “upcycled” stools donated by a hotel

Outcome: The team’s marketing strategy resulted in the successful sale of their stool. A high profile HK retailer has agreed to sell the stools in-store!
