Program Components

- Program Components -

LEADERSHIP SIMULATION

Experience different levels and types of challenges faced by most leaders in today's world. Through each simulation, students learn about tangible leadership skills (e.g. analyzing situations, making decisions with imperfect information, principled negotiations, crisis management, etc) in an interactive and fun environment.

NGO PROJECTS

Students will practice collaborative leadership through working on high-impact “consulting” projects for local NGOs or social enterprises. They will hear from the NGO leader about a problem the organization is facing. In teams, they will then brainstorm solutions, conduct further research and present a manageable and executable plan. Students are encouraged to continue with the project implementation after the summer if their ideas are chosen by the NGO.

CAREER EXPLORATION

Through visiting start-ups and corporates in various sectors, students meet with founders and senior managers of these organizations to hear first-hand about trends in their industries and advice on what skillsets are useful in these careers.  In previous programs, we have visited biotech companies in Science Park doing zebra fish testing, fintech Supercharger, startup incubator Cocoon, etc.

SKILL BASED COLLEGE WORKSHOPS

Facilitators who are current students and alumni from the top US and UK schools will share practical tips for college application, including personal essays writing, mock interviews, and resume writing.  They will also share how they chose their schools and majors when they went through the college admission process.

MBA-STYLE CASE STUDIES

These case studies are designed to replicate difficult situations and decisions that high school students may face in school, at home, and in the real world.  Through role playing and subsequent debrief, students “learn” how to handle these situations with integrity and responsibility.

INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKERS

Hear how leaders from all walks (and ages) of life have aligned their purpose, talents, and values to their leadership, work, and life. In previous programs, we have invited guest speakers ranging from senior executives of corporate, NGO leaders, entrepreneurs, musician, ex-Olympic swimmer to chief police negotiator, writer and pastor. Speakers are able to draw from their experience and provide unique insight to students' questions about personal and professional choices.

SELF AWARENESS WORKSHOPS

A series of reflective workshop aimed to help students discover their strengths, weaknesses, interests, and aspirations.  Facilitators will do personal sharing on how they overcome areas of development common for teenagers – e.g.  building up confidence, communication skills, interview skills, time management, etc.

GROUP & ONE-ON-ONE COACHING

Each student will receive one-on-one coaching sessions from both the Senior and Junior Facilitators during the summer program to set learning goals and discuss areas of development.  We encourage students to stay in touch with their facilitators even after the summer and to report progress on their developmental goals.
